What is a Repository?

Database of the Scientific Achievements of the University of Agriculture in Krakow was established at the turn of 2014 and 2015 as an institutional repository of the university. It is a tool for collecting, storing, indexing and sharing electronic versions of scientific papers. From the very beginning, it is based on the Omega-Psir software created by the team of the Warsaw University of Technology as part of the SYNAT project. It allows for comprehensive management of information about science and potential research at a university, which at the same time supports research management processes, but also the evaluation of the institution and its employees. The system additionally works to build a positive image and wide recognition of the university in the country and in the world.

Who uses the Repository?

Thanks to open resources, the repository is used by scientists and students dealing with agriculture and forestry, both from the country and from around the world. The age of users varies.

Problem

The repository does not have a home page that would direct users to the sections they are interested in. The current look is unintuitive, there is no grouping of content. It is not representative. Research has shown significant problems related to the way of searching for individual phrases or publications.

Assumptions

Layout should be simple, legible and useful. Colors referring to the KV of the University. The design pattern must match the Omega-Psir system pattern (restricted design). I also created a compatible logo and banner for the layout. The appearance was created based on a direct interview with the Head of the Scientific Information and Documentation Department.
